Former Amazon Prime Video head honcho Vijay Subramaniam has announced that he has founded and promoted an independent venture to develop, curate, finance and produce multi-platform content for the Indian market, with a focus on the Southern Indian region. Subramaniam boasts of a stellar executive career that spans leadership roles across the Star Network, MTV Networks, Disney India and most recently, Amazon Prime Video. The new enterprise — 29SeptemberWorks — will be a platform-agnostic creator-enabler with a focus on working with fresh and established creators and producers to enable them to develop and showcase their work to a pan-Indian market.
The company is already underway with its first slate that features films in Malayalam and Tamil and series in Tamil and Kannada. Subramaniam is also partnering with leading production houses. The company is headquartered in Bangalore and has presence in Madras and Kochi.
