As part of the ongoing Namaste Vietnam Festival of India in Ho Chi Minh city, the consul general of India in Vietnam, Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, hoisted the Indian flag at his residence in the midst of the Indian film delegation and other guests today (15th August) on the occasion of the Indian Independence Day. The delegation reached Ho Chi Minh on 12th August for the festival.
Dr. Sethi made a speech after hoisting the flag. A variety entertainment programme followed, with patriotic songs being rendered and played on the synthesiser by various performing artistes as well as children of Indians settled in Vietnam. There were dance recitals too. In the end, Indians as well as the Vietnamese guests danced to gay abandon on hit Bollywood patriotic numbers, adding to the gaiety and the patriotic fervour.
A day earlier (14th August), the Indian film festival was inaugurated with a screening of filmmaker Umesh Shukla’s 102 Not Out. The writer-director of the opening film is a part of the film delegation which will return to India tomorrow (16th August). Guest Iin London, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, Boomba Ride (Assamese), Uyyala Jampala (Telugu), Wrong Side Raju (Gujarati), and short film Parchaaiyaan are the other films being screened at the film festival.
