Failed actor-producer and self-styled film critic Kamaal R. Khan was arrested for the second time in a week, on September 3, in connection with an old molestation case. The Versova (Bombay) police took him into custody. A fitness trainer had slapped the molestation case against him in 2021. A holiday court on September 4 sent KRK to judicial custody. On August 30, the Malad (Bombay) police had arrested him for derogatory tweets posted by him in 2020.
With regard to the molestation case, the fitness trainer had approached the Versova police in mid-2021 and hd told them that the incident had occurred in 2019. She had said that she did not approach the police soon after the incident as she was terrified of KRK’s connections in the industry. She complained that she had met KRK at a house party, and he promised to get her a film role. She alleged that he would send her sexually explicit messages. Her complaint further added that in January 2019, Kamaal invited her home for his birthday party but she couldn’t make it. However, when she went to meet him on a later date, KRK invited her to a room on the upper floor where he offered her liquor. She refused the drink, following which he offered her orange juice which, she said, was spiked. After that, KRK began to touch her inappropriately and also flashed her. The woman added that she fled thereafter.
The Versova police booked the 54-year-old KRK under IPC sections 354 (A) and 509 but could not locate him as he had by then moved abroad. Meanwhile, the Malad police were already looking for him in connection with the 2020 case of derogatory tweets, lodged by Shiv Sena member Rahul Kanal. A look out circular was issued against him. He was detained by the Malad police at the Bombay International Airport on August 29. He was arrested on August 30 and produced before a magistrate court which sent him to judicial custody. Thereafter, the Versova police took his custody.
