STATE TO PROBE LAND ALLOTMENT TO RITESH, GENELIA | 22 OCTOBER, 2022

Maharashtra state industries minister Uday Samant on October 21 ordered a probe into the alleged out-of-turn allotment of an industrial plot of land in Latur by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation to a firm owned by Ritesh Deshmukh and his wife, Genelia. Ritesh is the son of former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Samant said, “I have asked MIDC CEO Bipin Sharma to conduct a probe… I expect him to submit the report as early as possible. After the receipt of report, we will decide the course of action.”

Latur-based BJP politicians Gurunath Mage and Pradeep More had claimed that Desh Agro Pvt. Ltd., controlled by the Deshmukhs, had been granted favours by the state agency on the basis of information secured under the RTI Act.
