Sudesh Gupta, general manager of Mukta Arts, passed away this morning (22nd December) in Pune. He was 88 and is survived by a son and a daughter and their families. He had been hospitalised for a couple of days this week but had returned home after recovering. He was doing well, and had breakfast this morning, after which he collapsed.
He had served Mukta Arts for over 30 years. He had quit his job soon after his wife passed away as his son, who lives in Pune, was very clear that the father would not stay alone in Bombay.
As far as the business of Mukta Arts was concerned, it would not be wrong to say that Guptaji, as he was respectfully called, was the pillar of Subhash Ghai’s company. He was an extremely sincere and very practical person.
Sudesh Gupta had also produced one film — Naya Daur — which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and starred Rishi Kapoor.
