Munirathna, producer and horticulture minister of Karnataka, has dropped his plan of producing a film on Urigowda and Nanjegowda, who are claimed to have killed Tipu Sultan. He had announced the film under his Vrishabhadri Productions on 17th March. The decision to abandon the project was taken after the intervention of Adichunchanagiri seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami.
The film’s announcement had created a political slugfest in the state with the Vokkaliga forum demanding a ban on the film before its production began. Producer-minister Munirathna said that he would not be talking about the topic further so as to not hurt the sentiments of a section of the people.
