Self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu, sentenced to life for sexually exploiting a minor, and the Sant Shri Asaramji Ashram Charitable Trust have sent producer Asif Sheikh a legal notice, alleging that the trailer of his forthcoming film, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, was “highly objectionable and defamatory”. The film, starring Manoj Bajpai, follows the story of a lawyer who goes against an influential Godman accused of sexually abusing a minor girl. The trailer was released on May 8.
According to producer Asif Sheikh, the film is a biopic on P.C. Solanki, prosecution counsel for the minor girl. Asaram Bapu is serving a life term in Central Jail, Jodhpur, since 2018 following his conviction in a case of sexual exploitation of a minor student of his gurukul.
