A 26-year-old film make-up artiste allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her rented Khar Danda residence in Bombay. The incident came to light on June 19 when the make-up artiste, Sarah Yanthan, did not answer the door bell.
On a complaint by the real estate agent through whom Sarah had got the house, the police broke open the door around 7.45 p.m. and found her hanging. The artiste also had cuts on her wrists.
The police registered a case of accidental death report (ADR). However, an FIR was registered on June 20 after police went through the suicide note left behind by Sarah, and came across the name of a person with whom she had a relationship.
An abetment to suicide case was registered against the person named by the deceased in her suicide note. Sarah Yanthan held a man, employed in a bank, responsible for her taking the extreme step as he was not ready to marry her.
