BOMBAY EXHIBITOR H.K. SHAH NO MORE | 20 August, 2023

Bombay exhibitor Harshad Kantilal Shah, popularly known as HK, passed away in Pune today (20th August). He was 79. He was at his daughter’s house when the end came. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

HK conducted his exhibition business under the name and style of Rajul Enterprises, named after one of his daughters. His distribution concern, Meghna Enterprises, got its name from the name of his other daughter.

He ran Malhar cinema, Thane in partnership with Vinay Choksey, Miraj and Prasad cinemas at Vita (Maharashtra), Adinath at Atpadi (Maharashtra), Laxmi and L.N. cinemas in Ahmedabad, Jagdamba at Waghodia and Kailash at Sankheda, all in Gujarat. In the 1990s, he started his distribution business with the owners of Laxmi and LN cinemas of Ahmedabad. The first film distributed by his firm was Sajid Nadiadwala’s Waqt Hamara Hai. Among the other films distributed by the concern were Krodh and Phool.

A prayer meeting in his memory will be held on Wednesday, August 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Ashok Hall, Ashok Nagar Society, Nahur Road, near Mehul Cinema, Vaithara Nagar, Mulund West, Bombay. The prayer meeting will be followed by lunch.
