Films should not be prevented from release at the eleventh hour, the Bombay high court said on August 22 while refusing to stay the release of Dream Girl 2. The film then released on the scheduled date — August 25 (today).
A single bench of Justice Riyaz Chagla on August 22 heard a suit filed by one Ashim Bagchi who claimed that the story of the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer was similar to a script he had gotten registered with the writers’ Association.
Bagchi sought a stay on the film’s release pending hearing of the suit.
Justice Chagla said, the suit and application seeking an injunction order on the release was filed only on August 18. He added that the respondents had had no chance to even respond to it.
