‘THE EQUALIZER 3’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 1 September, 2023

Columbia Pictures, Escape Artistes, Mundy Lane Entertainment, Fuqua Films and Eagle Pictures’ The Equalizer 3 (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name; A) is a vigilante action thriller and a sequel to The Equalizer 2. It is loosely based on the television series of the same name.

Robert McCall (Denzil Washington) moves to South Italy to run away from his past but he later discovers that it is not so easy after all. His new friends are under the control of the Sicilian mafia. And guess what? Robert has to unleash his past self to protect his new friends.

Richard Wenk has written a story based on the TV series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. The story is interesting but after a point of time, it becomes predictable. His screenplay affords some thrills and excitement. However, the drama does not remain consistently thrilling.

Denzil Washington does a truly fine job as Robert McCall. Dakota Fanning is good as Emma Collins. Eugenio Mastrandrea performs ably as Gio Bonucci. David Denman leaves a mark as Frank Conroy. Gaia Scodellaro does a fair job as Aminah. Remo Girone stands his own as Enzo Arisio. Andrea Scarduzio (as Vincent Quaranta), Daniele Perrone (as Angelo), Zakaria Hamza (as Khalid), Niccolo Senni (as Stefano), Bruno Bilotta (as Lorenzo Vitale), Adolfo Margiotta (as Chief Barella), Giampiero Rotoli (as Barella’s lieutenant) and the others do as desired.

Antoine Fuqua’s direction is fairly nice. Marcelo Zarvos’ background music is okay. Robert Richardson’s cinematography is of a fine standard. Naomi Shohan’s production designing is alright. Conrad Buff IV’s editing should’ve been sharper. Dubbing is appropriate.

On the whole, The Equalizer 3 is an ordinary fare.

Released on 1-9-’23 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay by Sony Pictures Films India Pvt. Ltd. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was below the mark everywhere.
