The Enforcement Directorate on October 6 searched a small-time production house at Andheri West in Bombay, along with several other premises, in the money-laundering case connected to Mahadev Book Online gaming-betting apps. The production house had allegedly received funding from Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, the Dubai-based promoters of Mahadev Book Online. It is currently making a historical film which was announced last year with many senior politicians in attendance at the launch function.
Meanwhile, celebrities and actors summoned by the ED for their statements in the case, have sought exemptions. Ranbir Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan had been summoned for either promoting the apps through ads or attending the success party of the apps in Dubai last year. It is probing the details of payments made to them.
