NO STAY ON ‘THE RAILWAY MEN’ | 18 November, 2023

The Bombay high court on November 15 refused to stay the release of Yash Raj Films’ web series, The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984, which is based on the Bhopal gas tragedy, citing that the details of the event were already available in the public domain. A vacation bench dismissed petitions filed by two erstwhile employees of Union Carbide India Ltd., who claimed that the series contained defamatory material which may cause prejudice to them. The series is being streamed on Netflix from today (November 18).

The petitioners — Satya Prakash Choudhry and J. Mukund — were convicted in the case. They later filed appeals.
