The Bombay high court on December 22 restrained Kaamakazi Solution Pvt. Ltd. and others from playing at a proposed New Year’s Eve 2024 event at a hotel in Bombay from a repertoire of over 400 music labels and more than 45 lakh international and domestic songs, without a licence first. The court said that without its intervention in granting protection, the Phonographic Performance Ltd. (PPL) would suffer grave irreparable loss in its copyrighted works.
PPL had filed for interim reliefs in a suit filed against Kaamakazi and others based on a social media post about the event.
