JAPANESE ANIME FILM OUTSHINES NEW BOLLYWOOD RELEASES THIS WEEK

This week’s Japanese anime film, DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA THE MOVIE: INFINITY CASTLE, opened to fantastic houses while all the new Bollywood films had to bite the dust.

Baaghi 4 could not do well in the first week. The film netted Rs. 6 crore on Friday (apart from the corporate and block bookings to make its performance appear better than what it actually was). Collections on Saturday totalled Rs. 6.50 crore while the total for Sunday was Rs. 6 crore. Therefore, the total for the first weekend was only Rs. 18.50 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 3 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.75 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 10.25 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 28.75 crore only. The corporate (block) bookings amounted to about Rs. 8 crore.

The Bengal Files failed to attract the public to the cinemas in the way it should’ve. It managed a lukewarm response in 1st week, netting Rs. 6 crore in the weekend, and another Rs. 3 crore during the weekdays. In this way, it collected Rs. 9 crore in the first week.

Ufff Yeh Siyapaa bombed at the ticket counters in the first week.

Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra (dubbed) could not do much in the cinemas in 1st week in spite of good word of mouth. This was mainly because of lack of awareness about the film and its release. After netting Rs. 0.14 crore on Thursday, it managed to collect Rs. 2.11 crore from Friday to the following Thursday. Therefore, the total for the first 8-day week was Rs. 2.25 crore.

Dil Madharaasi (dubbed) failed to draw the public to the cinemas in the first week.

The Conjuring: Last Rites (dubbed and the original English versions) did very well in the first week. The film’s original English version opened on Thursday (September 4), netting Rs. 0.43 crore. The total for all versions on Friday was a whopping Rs. 16.90 crore. Collections on Saturday totalled Rs. 17.03 crore. The film netted Rs. 15.26 crore on Sunday. Therefore, the very impressive 4-day weekend total was Rs. 49.62 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 4.95 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 5.47 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.65 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 16.32 crore, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 65.94 crore.

Param Sundari faced a steep fall in 2nd week. It netted Rs. 6 crore in the second weekend, and another Rs. 2.60 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the total for 2nd week was Rs. 8.60 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 43.60 crore.

Vash Vivash Level 2 (dubbed) dropped more than 70% in 2nd week. It managed to collect Rs. 1.25 crore in the second week. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 5.76 crore.

Mahavatar Narsimha (animation, Hindi and South languages) is now on its last lap. It started its seventh weekend with a take of Rs. 0.35 crore on Friday. Collections increased to Rs. 0.45 crore on Saturday. The jump on Sunday was more pronounced so that the day closed at Rs. 0.71 crore. After a seventh weekend total of Rs. 1.51 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.17 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.13 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.11 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 0.56 crore. In this way, the film netted Rs. 2.07 crore in 7th week. Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 240.65 crore.

F1: The Movie (dubbed and the original English versions) added Rs. 0.40 crore to its kitty in the eleventh week.Grand total for 11 weeks: Rs. 101.57 crore.

Vash Level 2 (Gujarati) did fairly well in the second week in Gujarat and Saurashtra.

Bachu Ni Benpani (Gujarati) maintained well in 2nd week too in Gujarat and Saurashtra.
