SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY (dubbed and the original English versions) opened huge on Thursday (July 30), recording a net total of Rs. 61 crore. This is the biggest opening for a Hollywood film in India. Given the public reports and the second day (Friday) total of Rs. 48.30 crore, the Spidey film would definitely breach the Rs. 200-crore mark in the first 4-day weekend!
The India Story could not do anything substantial anywhere in the first week.

Jan Neta (dubbed) did average business in the first week. After collecting Rs. 1.50 crore on Thursday (July 23), it collected Rs. 1.30 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 2 crore and Rs. 2.25 crore respectively, taking the total for the 4-day weekend to just Rs. 7.05 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.75 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.60 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.20 crore. The steep fall in collections on Thursday was because of the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 2.55 crore, the first 8-day week closed at just Rs. 9.60 crore.
The Odyssey (dubbed and the original English versions) continued its victory march in the second week too. It dropped a little less than 50% in its 2nd week. The second weekend began with a take of Rs. 6.74 crore on Friday. Collections jumped up to Rs. 11.25 crore on Saturday. The total for Sunday was Rs. 11.42 crore. Therefore, the second weekend closed at Rs. 29.41 crore, giving the film an entry into the Rs. 100-crore club. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 4.19 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.82 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 4.46 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.80 crore. The marked fall in collections on Thursday was because of the competition posed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which opened that day. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 16.27 crore, the second week closed at Rs. 45.68 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 131.33 crore.
Dhamaal 4 dropped around 50% in the third week but managed to touch the Rs. 150-crore mark. The third weekend started with a net collection of Rs. 2.35 crore. Collections on Saturday more than doubled to Rs. 5 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 6.25 crore and hence the third weekend closed at Rs. 13.60 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.90 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.35 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.65 crore. The more than 50% drop on Thursday as compared to the previous day (Wednesday) was because of the new Hollywood release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Anyway, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 5.40 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 19 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 150 crore.
Evil Dead Burn (dubbed and the original English versions) netted Rs. 1.25 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 0.90 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for 3rd week was Rs. 2.15 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 26.45 crore.
Bhootam Bhayyam (Marathi) did quite well in the first week in Maharashtra.
Ek Hota Malin (Marathi) fared poorly in 1st week all over Maharashtra.
Swapnasundari (Marathi) met with a poor fate in the first week all over.
