The opening of COCKTAIL 2 yesterday (June 19) was disappointing. It wasn’t dull but it wasn’t exciting also. Although the producers tried to window-dress the day’s total collection figure by ‘buying’ tickets worth several crores of rupees, the fact that the film had found very limited appreciation could not be denied. Its music, of course, is its biggest attraction.
Main Vaapas Aaunga did well in select cinemas in the big cities in the first week. Classes have liked the film whereas masses have found it to be too long and boring. The film collected Rs. 1.20 crore on the first day. Collections increased to Rs. 1.75 crore on Saturday. The total for Sunday was Rs. 2.40 crore. After a first weekend total of only Rs. 5.35 crore, collections for the weekdays were better: Monday – Rs. 1.10 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.80 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.15 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 6.55 crore. Hence the first week closed at Rs. 11.90 crore.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata failed to entice the audience to the cinemas in its first week. It netted only Rs. 5.50 crore in its first week.

Governor fared poorly in 1st week despite being liked by the gentry. It managed to collect only Rs. 4 crore in the first week.

Haunted Echoes Of The Past did very well in the first week. For its cost, it is very successful. It netted Rs. 2.11 crore on the opening day. Collections increased on Saturday (Rs. 2.73 crore) and Sunday (Rs. 3.08 crore). After an impressive first weekend total of Rs. 7.92 crore, collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.35 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.24 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.79 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.55 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 3.93 crore. Hence the first week closed at Rs. 11.85 crore.

The Narmada Story failed to tell a good box-office story in the first week.
Heer Sara fared poorly in 1st week.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai could not sustain at the ticket windows in 2nd week. The second weekend commenced with a take of Rs. 2 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 2.75 crore and Rs. 3.25 crore respectively. Therefore, the total for the second weekend was only Rs. 8 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.10 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.95 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.65 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 3.85 crore, the second week closed at Rs. 11.85 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 46.60 crore.

Peddi (dubbed) dropped markedly in the second week. It added only Rs. 3 crore to its kitty in 2nd week, taking its grand total for 2 weeks to Rs. 16.15 crore.

He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe (dubbed and the original English versions) could not sustain even at average levels in 2nd week. It netted only Rs. 1.25 crore in 2nd week, taking its grand total for 2 weeks to Rs. 8.25 crore.

The Maharashtra Files (Marathi) bombed in the first week all over Maharashtra.
Tumbadchi Manjula (Marathi) continued to do well in the second week in Maharashtra.
Deool Band 2 (Marathi) shone in the fourth week too in Maharashtra.
