‘MIRZAPUR THE MOVIE’ OPENS TO BUMPER HOUSES, ‘HANUMAN ANSH’ TURNING OUT TO BE BLOCKBUSTER

MIRZAPUR THE MOVIE opened to terrific houses yesterday (4th September). It got the benefit of the supreme popularity of the MIRZAPUR web series and also of the Janmashtami holiday yesterday.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale For Grown-Ups (dubbed) crashed after an enviable start on 26th August. The film has turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of this year so far. After netting Rs. 54 crore on Wednesday (26th August) and Rs. 21 crore on Thursday (27th August), the film collected Rs. 18 crore on Friday. The totals for Saturday and Sunday were shockingly lower than on Friday. Saturday closed at Rs. 14.75 crore while Sunday, at Rs. 13.75 crore. After a five-day weekend total of Rs. 121.50 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 4.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 4.85 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 3 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.40 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was a dismal Rs. 14.50 crore. The first 9-day week, therefore, closed at Rs. 136 crore.

Insidious: Out Of The Further (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped more than 70% in 2nd week. It netted Rs. 2.10 crore in the second weekend, and another Rs. 1.12 crore during the weekdays. Hence the second week closed at Rs. 3.22 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 15.68 crore.

Awarapan 2 did fair in 3rd week. It netted Rs. 1 crore on the first day (Friday) of the third weekend. Collections grew 10% on Saturday which closed at Rs. 1.10 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 1.20 crore. After a third weekend total of Rs. 3.30 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.45 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.50 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.40 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.35 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.70 crore, and for 3rd week, Rs. 5 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 151.06 crore.

Hanuman Ansh is going from strength to strength. Its collections for the fourth week were magical. The fourth weekend started with a net collection of Rs. 6.19 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday rose to Rs. 9.21 crore. The total for Sunday was an amazing Rs. 11.96 crore! After a fourth weekend total of Rs. 27.36 crore, collections for the weekdays were also tremendous: Monday – Rs. 4.97 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 8.04 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 7.11 crore, Thursday – Rs. 10.45 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 30.57 crore. Therefore, the total for 4th week was Rs. 57.93 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 69.64 crore.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (dubbed and the original English versions) managed to yield shares in the fifth week too. It fell slightly short of the Rs. 500-crore mark at the end of 5 weeks. It should join the Rs. 500-crore club in its sixth week. It collected Rs. 1.03 crore on the first day (Friday) of the fifth weekend. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 1.63 crore and Rs. 1.70 crore respectively, taking the fifth weekend total to Rs. 4.36 crore. Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.57 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.44 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.46 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.97 crore. Hence the fifth week closed at Rs. 6.33 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 498.93 crore.

The Odyssey (dubbed and the original English versions) did fair business in 7th week. The seventh weekend commenced with a take of Rs. 0.31 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday almost doubled to Rs. 0.61 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 0.67 crore. Hence the seventh weekend closed at Rs. 1.59 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.28 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.31 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.29 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 1.23 crore, the seventh week closed at Rs. 2.82 crore. Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 186.44 crore.
