Released last week in U.P. (at Lucknow), Mermaid Studio’s Acting Ka Bhoot (UA) is about two con artistes, Akki (Aham Sharma) and Geetu (Rajni Katiyar). They fall in love with each other even as they are trying to out-swindle one another.
Abhishek Shashi Kumar has written a routine story with emphasis on comedy. Kumar’s screenplay consists of a few entertaining scenes but overall, the drama is devoid of much masala. Abhishek Shashi Kumar’s dialogues are ordinary.
Aham Sharma looks quite handsome and does a reasonable job as Akki. Rajni Katiyar is average as Geetu. Ishtiyak Khan lends decent support. Saanand Verma is okay. Anil Rastogi, Lilliput and the others are adequate.
Shashank Kumar’s direction is dull. Kashi-Richard’s music and Kashi Kashyap and Mukesh Mishra’s lyrics are functional. Abhishek Dutt’s choreography is weak. Background music (by Suraj) lacks impact. Bharani Kannan’s camerawork is routine. Deepak Ambawadekar’s art direction hardly deserves separate mention. Editing (Vinay Pandey and Sadhu Baijnath) leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, Acting Ka Bhoot is a flop show.
