ACTOR-POLITICIAN DECIDES NOT TO RESIGN AS M.P. | 5 July, 2023

A day after he offered to resign as MP, actor-turned-politician Amol Kolhe on July 4 decided to adopt a wait-and-watch approach following a meeting with NCP national president Sharad Pawar. The MP, who was present for the oath-taking ceremony of Ajit Pawar as deputy chief minister of Maharashtra on July 2, later said, he was not aware of the political developments and the split in the party at the time.

He met Sharad Pawar and sought his guidance on the resignation issue. When Amol Kolhe had spoken about his mood to resign, he had cited the “political upheavals” in the state and efforts by politicians to “get into power at any cost” as disturbing. “The voters in my constituency had voted to support a particular school of thought. I cannot compromise on it. I guess, quitting is a better option than to make this compromise,” he had told reporters then.
