A former driver of a yesteryear actor was recently arrested by the Bombay police’s anti-narcotic cell (ANC) for allegedly supplying high quality hydro ganja to celebrities in Western suburbs of Bombay. Hydro ganja is cannabis which is grown indoors.
The ANC’s Bandra (Bombay) unit arrested Vidhyasingh Gandhi, a Palghar resident, after his name cropped up during investigation. The ANC last month laid a trap near Juhu Church and arrested four persons with 1,700 gm. of charas and 950 gm. of hydro ganja, collectively valued at Rs. 1.20 crore, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During investigation, the police learned that the ganja seized from them had allegedly been supplied by the accused. Gandhi told the cops that he hailed from Bihar and had come to Bombay in 1981. Initially, he had worked for 14 years as a driver with an actor. He said, he then joined another actor. He left his job with the second actor when he (the actor-employer) was arrested in an IPL betting racket. Vidhyasingh Gandhi said, he thereafter joined a music company. He explained that he came in touch with a person from Himachal Pradesh, from whom he began to buy drugs.
