Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has now embraced a new spiritual role by taking to spiritualism and turning a sadhvi. On January 24, she was anointed Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, where the Maha Kumbh is taking place. She was given the name Shri Yamai Mamta Nand Giri.
Mamta was known for playing bold roles and had developed the image of a sexy actress in the 1990s.
Mamta visited the Kinnar Akhara camp at the Maha Kumbh and held a detailed discussion with Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Laxmi Narayan Tripathi of the Kinnar Akhara on Sanatan Dharm, sanyas and other related issues. The Acharyas later performed a diksha ceremony at the Sangam and completed the pind daan ritual. After that, the pittabhishek (sacred investiture) of Mamta was performed following which she was officially declared a sadhvi.
