‘AJAY WARDHAN’ REVIEW | 16 December, 2022

Prasidh Eklavya Entertainment’s Ajay Wardhan (UA) is the love story of Ajay and Pragati.

Ajay (Romil Chaudhary) is studying to become a doctor. He falls in love with a rich girl, Pragati (Pihu Sharma). Her father agrees to get Pragati married to Ajay but only after he becomes a doctor. However, when Ajay qualifies as a doctor and goes to Pragati’s house to ask her father for her hand in marriage, the father refuses because Ajay’s college-mate, Ridhima (Barkha Pundir), has instigated the father against Ajay by saying that he is characterless. What happens thereafter? Do Ajay and Pragati get married?

Pragati Agarwal has written a story which does not even pretend to be novel. Her screenplay treads the beaten path so that every single scene in the drama looks like something one has seen in umpteen earlier films. Consequently, the love story fails to touch the heart. The drama is so weak that the audience disconnects from it completely. Even Pragati Agarwal’s dialogues are below the mark.

Romil Chaudhary does an average job as Ajay. Pihu Sharma is alright as Pragati. Kshitij Patwardhan lends ordinary support as Ajay’s elder brother, Vijay. Ramandeep Yadav and Malkeet Singh are okay as Ajay’s friends, Ankit Bagga and Arshdeep respectively. Girish Thapar lends routine support in the role of Pragati’s father. Dimple Sharma (as Mandira) and Barkha Pundir (as Ridhima) pass muster. Ruslaan Mumtaz and Arjumman Mughal are okay in brief appearances. Abhimanyu Aryan (as young Ajay), Yogesh Vats (as young Vijay) and Dimple (as Pragati’s mother) lend ordinary support.

Pragati Agarwal’s direction is weak. Monty Sharma’s music and Dr. Ajay Aryan’s lyrics are more functional than anything else. Cinematography (Yuvraj Indoria, Shakti Indoria and Sukhan Saar) is way below the mark. Vijay Cheera’s action and stunt scenes are devoid of thrill. Editing (Shubham Srivastav, Prabhat Ojha, Ankit Govind Dubey, Gagan Sharma, Manish Eklavya and Priya) is loose and leaves a lot to be desired.

On the whole, Ajay Wardhan is a disastrous fare.

Released on 16-12-’22 at Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show) and another cinema of Bombay thru Jai Viratra Entertainment Ltd. Publicity & opening: terribly poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was extremely weak everywhere.
