Singer Alka Yagnik recently had a sensory neural nerve hearing loss, probably following a viral attack. An audiometry examination revealed that her ability to hear had drastically gone down in one ear. The inability to hear clearly — almost completely unable to hear from one ear — happened as soon as she alighted a flight at Goa airport a few weeks back.
This is said to be a very rare disease. Treatment has begun but according to doctors, recovery is a slow process. While some doctors opine that this could be due to a virus, others feel, it may have happened because of Alka’s exposure to loud music and use of headphones. There is also an opinion that this could be the reaction of the COVID-19 vaccine.
