‘AMALTASH’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 8 March, 2024

Darshan Productions Pvt. Ltd., Medium Strong Productions and One Fine Day’s Amaltash (Marathi) is the love story of a young man and a young lady.

Rahul (Rahul Deshpande) works in a music shop. He was once an accomplished singer but he gave up singing after he had brain tumour. He is cured now. Rahul meets Keerthi (Pallavi Paranjape) who is herself a singer. She has come to Pune from Canada to take her grandmother (Pratibha Padhye) abroad with her. Rahul and Keerthi fall in love with one another. But soon, Rahul’s brain tumour returns. On the very day, Rahul is to undergo surgery to remove the brain tumour, Keerthi learns that she is pregnant with his child. What happens thereafter?

Suhas Desale’s story is not very exciting or entertaining. Mayuresh Wagh and Suhas Desale’s screenplay is interesting in parts only. The emotional quotient is weak as the scenes, which ought to have drawn tears from the eyes of the viewers, don’t do so. Also, a part of the drama looks contrived and written solely with a view to move the audience emotionally, but the desired impact is missing. Dialogues are so-so.

Rahul Deshpande is fair in the role of Rahul. Pallavi Paranjape is okay as Keerthi. Deepti Mate is alright as Rahul’s sister, Deepti. Pratibha Padhye lends average support as Keerthi’s grandmother. Trisha Kunte is ordinary as Deepti’s daughter, Dimple. Others pass muster.

Suhas Desale’s direction is below the mark. His editing leaves something to be desired. Bhushan Mate’s music is routine. Lyrics (Mayuresh Wagh, Shanta Shelke and Pallavi Paranjape) are okay. Amol Dhadphale’s background music is not as impactful as it should’ve been. Rushi Tambe and Bhushan Mate’s camerawork is average. Mangesh Bhayde and Rushi Tambe’s production designing is ordinary.

On the whole, Amaltash is a poor show all the way.

Released on 8-3-’24 at Sun City Mukta A2 (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru August Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor.
