Chiragdeep International’s Anari Is Backk (UA) is a love story. Rajveer (Nawab Khan) comes from Afghanistan to Lucknow where he lives on rent in a house owned by Haider Ali (Mithun Chakraborty). Rajveer struggles to pay his rent but the golden-hearted Haider Ali still treats him like his own son. Rajveer falls in love with Jaspreet (Mishika Chourasia) without knowing that she is the daughter of Kulpreet Narang (Anita Raaj), owner of the pharmaceutical company in which he works. All hell breaks loose in the Narang household when Jaspreet’s love affair comes to the family’s knowledge. What happens thereafter?
Pahlaj Nihalani’s story is as old as the hills and does not even pretend to be novel or different from stories of films made in an era gone by. His screenplay is terribly weak as the drama simply does not involve the viewers one bit. Hackneyed scenes and situations dominate the proceedings as the audience watch haplessly. The rich-girl-poor-boy angle has been done to death in umpteen earlier films and this one is yet another in the same category. Comedy falls flat on its face while emotions are conspicuous by their absence. Sanjay Masoom’s dialogues are weak.
Nawab Khan is dull in the role of Rajveer. Mishika Chourasia does an average job as Jaspreet. Mithun Chakraborty goes through his role (as Haider Ali) mechanically. Anita Raaj is at least earnest but to no avail. Shakti Kapoor is adequate. Manoj Joshi is alright. Kenneth Desai and Arshin Mehta lend dull support.
Munesh Rawat’s direction is poor. Ishwar Kumar’s music and background score are both below the mark. Lyrics (Kumaar Vikas Dubey and Chand Qadri) are functional. Chinni Prakash’s choreography is average. Suresh Beesaveni’s camerawork is alright. Tinnu Verma’s action and stunt scenes are so-so. Sanjay Sankla’s editing leaves something to be desired.
On the whole, Anari Is Backk is a flop show.
