No sooner did S. Shankar (seated in centre, in photo on right) announce that he would be remaking his Tamil film, Anniyan, in Hindi with Ranveer Singh in the male lead than V. Ravichandran (in picture on extreme left), producer of Anniyan, sent him a notice stating that he could not remake the film as the copyright vested with him (V. Ravichandran). Shankar reportedly replied that he had the legal right to remake the film as the rights were never assigned to the producer.
Ravichandran has also filed a complaint with his association, the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC). On its part, the SIFCC has forwarded the complaint to Shankar and is awaiting his version/reply.
The Hindi remake is to be produced by Jayantilal Gada (standing on the right, in picture on the right).
