Actress Ameesha Patel and her associate, Kumar Goomer, were granted bail on June 17 by a Ranchi court in connection with a cheque bouncing case registered against them by local financier Ajay Kumar Singh. The court of judicial magistrate D.N. Shukla granted bail to the two accused on the condition that they would appear before him on June 21, the next date of hearing.
Ajay Kumar Singh had filed a complaint petition in 2018 against Ameesha, her company, Ameesha Patel Productions, and Kumar Goomer, alleging that they had cheated him. He said that the actress asked him to invest in a film, promising him interest and profit after the film’s release in 2018. He further said that he received two cheques in August 2018, both of which were dishonoured by the bank. He concluded that when he approached Ameesha Patel, she refused to pay him anything.
