The stage seems to be set for Anees Bazmee’s horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to join the Rs. 100-crore club. The Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu starrer was off to a flying start yesterday (Friday, May 20) when it netted Rs. 14.11 crore. Collections on the second day (today, May 21) have jumped up by around 30% as early estimates reveal that the second day of the second film in the Bhool Bhulaiyaa series might close at Rs. 18 crore! Given the trend, it can safely be predicted that the first weekend will close at Rs. 50 crore-plus. If that happens, the film will collect a total of around Rs. 70-75 crore in the first week, depending upon how well it is able to hold during the weekdays.
Getting to the 100-crore mark then might not be a difficult proposition because its only opposition next week would be Anek. Of course, there will be three new major releases — Prithviraj, Major and Vikram (dubbed) — on June 3, but Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will have hopefully joined the coveted 100-crore club by then.
The success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 could not have come a day too earlier because with Hindi films falling like nine pins at the ticket counters in recent weeks and dubbed (in Hindi) South language films like K.G.F. Chapter 2 and RRR performing exceedingly well during the same time period, people had been predicting nasty things about Bollywood. The success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will now shut the mouths of such misguided people!
