So the big clash will be avoided. Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again , starring Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Deepika Padukone, has been postponed and hence will not come on 15th August in opposition of Pushpa 2: The Rule. Both the films have been in the public eye — as much for their franchise value as for their common release date. But the latest news is that Singham Again will hit the screens on Diwali instead of Independence Day, leaving the Independence Day weekend field clear for the Pushpa: The Rise Part 1 sequel.
While rumours have it that a lot of work still remains to be done to complete Singham Again, there is also talk that better sense has prevailed over Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgan, which is why they are inclined to avoid pitting their film against the Pushpa sequel, starring Allu Arjun. After the stupendous success of Pushpa: The Rise Part 1, Telugu films’ superstar Allu Arjun has become a rage among the Hindi film-going audience too. Whatever the reason for the postponement of the third film in the formidable Singham franchise, it is good news for exhibitors that two eagerly awaited and highly promising films will not compete for showcasing time in the Independence Day week. As it is, the horrific results which the big clash on Eid last week threw up are for all in the trade to see. Exhibitors had a harrowing time trying to allocate shows to the two films, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan. Not only did the plans for both the films open very late because the showcasing could not be finalised till the eleventh hour (thanks to the distributors of both the films not willing to budge from their obstinate stands) but the audience also got divided between the two big films as a result of which both opened at levels far below one would expect Eid releases to open.
