The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on August 26 issued notice to a studio at Malad’s Madh-Marve area in Bombay, asking it to stop all activities and use of the place as it had not produced any permissions from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) and the environment department. The notice came after a site inspection was carried out by former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya and BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar on 26th.
Somaiya had recently complained to the civic body about 28 allegedly illegal studios in Madh Island and accused Shiv Sena MLA and former environment minister Aaditya Thackeray and Congress MLA Aslam Shaikh of corruption of Rs. 1,000 crore in this regard.
A BMC official said, notices to other studios will be issued if any irregularities are found.
