Two persons on a motorbike hurled bombs near two Chandigarh nightclubs — one of them, De Orra, owned by singer-rapper Badshah — around 3.14 a.m. on November 26. Nobody was injured by the two low-intensity blasts barely 100 metres from a police station in Sector 26. Later, jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s associate, Goldy Brar, owned responsibility for the blasts and said in a social media post that he and Rohit Godara of the gang had masterminded the blasts as the club owners hadn’t paid them “protection money”. The post added that if the owners didn’t heed repeated reminders, there would be more such attacks.
The police found CCTV footage showing one of the two suspects on a motorcycle hurling the bombs towards the clubs, and then the two speeding away towards Mohali. Investigators said, the attacks were possibly meant to be a warning or a threat to the club owners to pay up.
