The Bombay University has decided to set up an advanced study and research centre in honour of late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. It is proposed to name it as Centre for Excellence in Light Music. The University’s music department will also constitute a chair in her name, and a gold medal will be awarded to students who excel in post-graduate studies from the department.
The Centre will conduct research and study on Lata’s works. It will be equipped with modern studios, musical instruments and technical facilities.
