Producer Boney Kapoor in February lost Rs. 3.82 lakh to credit card fraud. The amount was transferred from his account in five fraudulent transactions on February 9. A case was registered at the Amboli (Andheri, Bombay) police station last week under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act after Boney lodged a written complaint with the police.
Since nobody had asked for Kapoor’s credit card details, the police suspect that someone had obtained the data while Boney was using his card. Investigations revealed that money from the credit card had gone into the account of a company in Gurgaon. A probe is on.
