BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali on 19th December raised in the Lok Sabha, the issue of Deepika Padukone’s bikini in the Besharam rang song from Pathaan and the controversy surrounding it as well as the film, and slammed those demanding a ban on the film, adding that it was the job of the CBFC to clear films. He explained that many linked to the BJP were demanding a ban on the film by saying that it was hurting Hindu feelings.
The MP from Amroha added that similar demands had been made by an Ulema board. “It is a new trend, those in the government are demanding that the film be banned… Someone from Ulema board also said, the Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone film should be banned,” Ali rued, adding, “The job of banning movies should be left to the censor board. There are many artistes among our members. Sanatan Dharma is not so weak that it would be in danger due to someone wearing a colour… Nor is Islam so weak that a movie may hurt it.”
