CASE UNDER SC/ST ACT AGAINST ACTOR VIJAY DEVERAKONDA | 23 June, 2025

The Hyderabad police have booked actor Vijay Deverakonda under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for his “defamatory comments” against tribal communities. The police registered the case following a complaint from a tribal body.

The complaint was lodged at the Raidurgam police station in Hyderabad on June 17 following which an inquiry was made. The police then filed a case against the actor.

During a film promotional event, Vijay likened the situation between India and Pakistan to a “tribal” community. Upset by his comments, the Tribal Welfare Association of Telangana lodged a complaint. The actor issued a clarification on X, saying that he did not intend to offend or target any group.
