A case under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against television actress Munmun Dutta yesterday (18th May) after her video, allegedly carrying objectionable words for the SC/ST community, went viral on social media. Community members staged a protest yesterday afternoon following which a case was registered in the evening on a complaint by one Manoj Parmar. Investigations are underway.
In the viral video, Munmun, while getting ready, says that she wants to look good and not like a bhangi. Several people on social media objected to the usage of the term. The actress issued an apology for the same today (19th) on all her social media platforms.
