CBFC ORDERS WORDS ‘SITEY’, ‘HONU’ IN BENGALI FILM TO BE MUTED | 27 April, 2022

The Central Board of Film Certification has asked the makers of Bengali film Aasharey Goppo to mute the words ‘Sitey’ and ‘Honu’, used in a “derogatory” contact for Sita and Hanuman in a brief enactment of an episode from Ramayan. The Calcutta regional office of the CBFC ordered for two more modifications at its hearing on 25th April.

The film is directed by Arindam Chakraborty who is a state government official. It stars Rudranil Ghosh and Payal Sarkar, both of who contested the Assembly elections in West Bengal as BJP candidates but lost.
