7 Star Creative International, Kanu Babu Enterprises and Sarvamangla International’s Chattan (UA) is a film about an honest police officer who sacrifices his life while discharging his duties.
Sudeep D. Mukherjee has written an extremely routine story. His predictable screenplay robs the drama of excitement as there’s hardly any scene which surprises or shocks the audience. His dialogues are dull.
Jeet Upendra is average as police inspector Ranjit Singh. Obviously, he doesn’t look like a hero. Rajanika Ganguly is not heroine material. Her acting is so-so. Tej Sapru goes through his villainy in a routine manner. Brij Gopal is alright as sub-inspector Ajay Kumar. Shiva, Mallika Sahani, Ramesh Goyal, Ratan Mayal, Ballu Tyagi, Vikas Anand, Rocky Verma and the others are just about passable.
Sudeep D. Mukherjee’s direction is as routine as his script. His music and lyrics are functional while his choreography is dull. His editing is loose. Kamal Singh Bhunawat’s background music is poor. Rajesh Kanojiya’s camerawork is ordinary. Hira Yadav’s action and stunt scenes lack fire.
On the whole, Chattan is a flop show.
Released on 22-9-’23 at Gem (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Triveni Films. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
