Cinema employees in Assam today (19th September) staged a sit-in protest in Guwahati, demanding the reopening of cinemas in the state. The protest was held under the aegis of the All Assam Cinema Hall Employees Association. The employees said that while the state government had reopened public transportation, restaurants, bars and shopping malls, it was still not ready to reopen cinema halls.
