The industry was waiting for cinemas to be permitted to reopen as part of Unlock 4.0, announced today (29th August). But the Ministry of Home Affairs once again did not grant the much-awaited permission to multiplexes and single-screen cinemas to resume operations. Even cinemas situated outside the containment zones in the country have not been allowed to reopen as part of Unlock 4.0. According to para 1 (iv) of the guidelines for phased reopening during Unlock 4.0, cinema halls will remain closed.
