COURT ASKS POLICE TO SUBMIT PROGRESS REPORT IN COMPLAINT AGAINST KANGANA | 6 February, 2021

A magistrate court on 5th February asked the Amboli police in Bombay to submit a progress report in the inquiry it had ordered into a complaint against Kangana Ranaut and her sister, Rangoli Chandel, for posting messages that were allegedly hateful and defamatory of a community. The report under section 202 of the Cr. PC was to be submitted by December 5, 2020. However, the police asked for more time which was extended to January 5, 2021, and then February 5, but when those were also missed, the court asked them to submit a progress report.

The complaint against the sisters was filed by advocate Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh. According to complainant Deshmukh, Rangoli had posted an objectionable message on Twitter in April 2020, targeting a particular community. Following that, her account was suspended. Kangana then posted a video in support of Rangoli and she referred to members of that community as terrorists. The complainant told the court that no police action had been taken.
