Javed told the court that he was shocked when he learnt that Kangana Ranaut had on July 19, in an interview to anchor Arnab Goswami, damaged his “immaculate reputation by falsely attributing statements to him”. In the course of the interview, “Ranaut had proceeded to give her opinion on the circumstances around the death of Sushant without appearing to have any direct personal knowledge of the circumstances,” Javed’s plea said. In the same interview, Akhtar added, she had referred to him (Javed Akhtar) as being part of an alleged “suicide gang”.
