COURT REJECTS ED’S REQUEST FOR FURTHER CUSTODY OF SACHIN JOSHI | 24 February, 2021

The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court on 22nd February rejected the request of the Enforcement Directorate to extend the custody of actor-producer-businessman Sachin Joshi for a week for investigating the accounts of some of his foreign companies. The court instead sent him to judicial custody till March 1. Sachin had been arrested on February 14 in the case of money laundering by builders Omkar Group.

The ED said, it had found some undisclosed foreign companies of Joshi, which may have been used for money laundering. The court, however, said that eight days of custody had already been granted to ED to trace the money trail.
