COURT REJECTS RAJ KUNDRA’S PRE-ARREST BAIL PETITION | 29 November, 2021

The Bombay high court on November 25 rejected the pre-arrest bail pleas filed by Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra, and several others in connection with a 2020 cyber cell case over an alleged racket involving the making, sale and distribution of pornographic content. Kundra was arrested in July this year in another case registered by the Bombay crime branch, also under the Information Technology Act. He was granted bail in September.

The high court bench of Justice Nitin Sambre rejected six pre-arrest bail applications but continued the interim protection against arrest for all the six, by four weeks. In August this year, the high court had continued interim protection to Raj Kundra in the November 2020 case registered by the nodal cyber police station in Bombay for alleged distribution of obscene and explicit content. The case also invoked the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
