COURT TO SEE ‘TEXT OF SLEUTH’S CALL TO DRUGS ACCUSED’ | 4 August, 2021

A Bombay Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court, hearing the anticipatory bail plea of Karishma Prakash, erstwhile manager of Deepika Padukone, in a drugs case related with Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, said that it would be permissible to look into the audio recording transcripts submitted by her, as circumstantial evidence along with additional grounds, as material placed on record by her. The defence said that in the conversation, a now-suspended Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer asked Karishma to change her lawyer or else a stringent section would be invoked. When Karishma, in fact, did not agree to the proposal, section 27A of the NDPS Act, which provides for upto 20 years in jail, was invoked, the plea said.

Karishma Prakash had sought pre-arrest bail on 31st October, 2020.
