The Bombay high court on 26th October restrained actress Luviena Lodh, estranged wife of producer Dimppy Ramdayal (Sumeer Sabharwal), from making and circulating any defamatory statements against Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. Lodh had circulated a video where she had badmouthed Dimppy and the Bhatts too, stating that Mahesh Bhatt was Dimppy’s uncle. The fact is that Mahesh Bhatt is the maternal uncle of Dimppy’s paternal cousins, Suneel and Dharmesh Darshan. However, Bhatt is not related to Dimppy Ramdayal. Dimppy’s father, Ramdayal Sabharwal, and Suneel and Dharmesh’s father, Darshan Sabharwal, were brothers. Mahesh Bhatt is the brother of Suneel and Dharmesh’s mother.
The Bhatt brothers filed a civil suit in Bombay high court, seeking damages of Rs. 2 crore from Luviena Lodh over her allegedly defamatory statements, and an unconditional apology. The court, however, did not pass any interim order at this stage for removal of a video which the Bhatts alleged was defamatory. It gave Lodh three weeks to file a reply to the suit.
