While reacting to the recent controversy over the Marathi film Har Har Mahadev, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on November 14 hit out at “so-called scholars” over distortion of facts about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and took a dig at Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde. In an editorial in its mouthpiece, Saamna, it said that Marathi film Dharmaveer, based on the life of late Sena leader Anand Dighe, had also distorted facts.
The Sena, in its editorial, said that it is a very old business of a group of so-called scholars and researchers in the state to make wild and absurd claims based on so-called evidence. It added that the history that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj created should not be destroyed for the sake of commercial films.
