Saravanana Productions’ Dr. S. The Legend (dubbed from Tamil film The Legend; UA) is the story of a scientist, Dr. Saravanan (Arul Saravanan) who decides to find a cure for diabetes on losing his friend, Thirupathi (Robo Shankar), to the disease. However, VJ (Suman) feels threatened by Dr. Saravanan’s research as it will spell disaster for his medical business. VJ does all under his command to stop Dr. Saravanan in his tracks. What happens thereafter?
J.D.-Jerry have written a story which is childish and lacks conviction. Their screenplay is nothing but an assemblage of clichéd scenes meant to showcase new actor Arul Saravanan’s abilities. Consequently, nothing creates an impact on the audience as every scene looks orchestrated rather than naturally flowing. Dialogues are poor.
Arul Saravanan is pathetic in the title role. Neither does he look like a hero nor can he act to save his life. Urvashi Rautela does an average job. Geethika Tiwari is so-so as Thulasi. Suman passes muster as VJ. Nassar lends fair support as Dr. Saravanan’s professor. Vamsi Krishna is ordinary as Munna. Vivek hardly scores as Dr. Saravanan’s uncle, Thangam. Robo Shankar is alright as Thirupathi. Yogi Babu, Prabhu, Vijayakumar, Sachu, Latha, Singampuli and Thambi Ramaiah lend average support. Yashika Anand and Raai Laxmi entertain in special appearances in song-dance numbers. Others just about fit the bill.
J.D.-Jerry’s direction is dull. Harris Jayaraj’s music is okay. Lyrics hardly deserve separate mention. Choreography (Raju Sundaram, Brinda and Dinesh) is okay. R. Velraj’s camerawork is ordinary. Anl Arasu’s stunts and action scenes are thrilling but not convincing. Ruben’s editing leaves a lot to be desired. Dubbing is below the mark.
On the whole, Dr. S. The Legend will meet with a disastrous fate.
