EVEN AS UPHAAR CINEMA FIRE TRAGEDY CASE ON, ANOTHER FIRE AT CINEMA AFTER 25 YEARS | 18 April, 2022

A minor fire broke out on the morning of 17th April at Uphaar cinema in Delhi where a deadly blaze had killed 59 persons in June 1997. The cinema is closed since 1997. No injuries were reported in the 17th April blaze which affected the balcony area and a floor of the cinema. Seats, furniture and rubble in the premises had caught fire.

The fire department received a call at 4.46 a.m. and rushed nine fire tenders to the spot near Green Park metro station. Furniture and other waste materials were gutted. The fire was brought under control around 7.20 a.m.
